The Invisalign teeth realignment programme is big news in orthodontics at the moment, and you’ve almost certainly come across it already. What you may not be aware of, though, is that there is a special version for younger orthodontic patients called Invisalign Teen.
Invisalign is designed to straighten fully grown and established adult teeth, so it’s not suitable for patients under eighteen. That’s why the company have developed Invisalign Teen, so that younger patients can enjoy the benefits of this innovative treatment programme too.
The teen Invisalign programme works in a very similar way to the main Invisalign programme, but it has a few key modifications.
It’s designed to compensate for the eruption of adult teeth
The main difference between an adult’s teeth and a teenager’s teeth is that the teenager may still be waiting for one or two of their final teeth to come through. This can sometimes happen during the treatment period, so the Invisalign Teen programme has special featured designed to compensate for this.
It features wear time indicators
One of the major benefits of Invisalign is the fact that they’re removable. It’s obviously worth noting though that they don’t actually do anything to realign your teeth when you’re not wearing them! Invisalign Teen retainers come with blue wear time indicators that will show how long they’ve been worn for.
It comes with six free replacement aligners
Teenagers tend to life much more active lifestyles. It can also sometimes be difficult to keep track of retainers during school lunchtimes or sports sessions. Because of this, the teen programme includes six free replacement aligners in the event of any getting lost or broken.
