There are a number of common reasons for people to be put off teeth realignment treatment. One of the key ones is that people are worried about what they may or may not be able to eat during the treatment period.
You may have heard horror stories about having to change your entire diet during your brace-wearing period. Please be assured that these stories are greatly exaggerated! Though it is true you’ll need to be a little cautious about very hard or very sticky foods, a traditional fixed brace will not significantly limit your diet.
Want some tasty inspiration about what you or your child could have for a treat during teeth realignment treatment? We’ve shared five of our favourite brace-friendly treats for sweetie fans below.
1. Fruit smoothies
There are few things sweeter than a fruit smoothie! Smoothies are easy to make, easy to eat and are generally low on artificial sugar. Want to make yours extra special? Use frozen bananas for a milkshake-type texture without adding ice cream.
Pancakes are a delicious treat whether you choose to have them for breakfast, as a snack or for pudding. We like to pair ours with greek style yoghurt and a handful of berries.
We all need a special treat sometimes! If you have a crazing for something a bit special, cheesecake is an excellent brace-friendly pudding.
4. Frozen Yoghurt
Fro-Yo is a healthier alternative to ice cream that is just as cold and refreshing. We love it because it’s creamier than sorbet.
5. Baked fruit
If you’re a big fan of hard fruits such as apple and pear, you may miss them during your teeth realignment treatment. Luckily, you don’t have to avoid them completely. Baking them (perhaps with a spoonful of honey and a sprinkling of cinnamon) is an excellent way to enjoy their sweet taste without the crunch.
If you’re interested in teeth realignment treatment but don’t want to change your eating habits, removable retainers such as Invisalign may be ideal for you. Here’s more information about how they work.
