Five Brace Friendly Christmas Treats

If you have a fixed brace, you’ll need to give a bit of extra thought to the treats you choose to snack on this festive period. Some snack foods can be problematic for brace wearers, and we’d recommend that you give things like candy canes and roasted nuts a very wide berth!

Luckily, it’s not all bad news!.There are plenty of festive treats that are totally brace-friendly. We’ve gathered together five suggestion for delicious nibbles to stock up on, whether you prefer sweet or savoury (or perhaps a decadent mix of both!)

1. Turkey and cranberry sandwiches

Meat, cranberry sauce and soft bread are all brace-friendly foods. Just make sure you’re extra careful about removing bones, and avoid crusty bread.

2. Ice cream

It may be a bit chilly… but ice cream is a sweet treat you won’t need to worry about causing damage to your brace.

3. Chocolate

Don’t worry, you won’t need to give up your chocolate selection box this year! Most chocolate is fine to eat when you have a brace fitted, just steer clear of chocolate that contains caramel.

4. Marshmallows

If you’re still quite new to brace-wearing, you may be keen to stick to very soft treats. It doesn’t get much softer than a marshmallow! To give your treat some added festive pizzazz, why not turn them into marshmallow snowmen? Just think carefully about what you use to decorate them with.

5. Smoked salmon

Smoked salmon is a particularly good form of fish for brace wearers as it doesn’t usually contain bones. Why not pair it with sour cream and soft blinis for easy-but-delicious canapés?
